WATER PUMP

REMOVAL

Preparation:
- Battery negative cable.
- Drain Engine Coolant from the radiator and engine.
1. Radiator hoses
- Disconnect from radiator side.
2. Air duct assembly
3. Lower fan shroud

Fig. 1 Lower Fan Shroud Retaining Clips:

- Remove two clips from upper fan shroud and lower fan shroud.
4. Upper fan shroud
- Remove four fixing bolts from radiator and upper fan shroud.
5. Fan and fan clutch
- Remove four fixing nuts from fan and fan clutch and fan pulley.
6. Power steering pump drive belt (If so equipped)
- Loosen two fixing bolts from power steering pump adjust plate and bracket.
7. Air Conditioning compressor idler pulley
- Loosen the idler pulley nuts.
Remove two fixing bolts from idler pulley and cylinder block.
8. Air Conditioning compressor drive belt
9. Generator drive belt
- Loosen three fixing bolts from generator and adjust plate.
10. Water pump pulley
- Remove four fixing nuts from water pump pulley hub and water pump pulley.
11. Starter motor
- Remove two fixing bolts from starter motor and rear plate.
12. Crank pulley
- Attach the special tool to the cavity of starter motor






Flywheel holder: J-38674
- Remove the crank pulley fixing bolt.
13. Timing belt upper cover
14. Timing belt lower cover
15. Water pump
- Remove four fixing bolts and one nut from water pump body and cylinder body.

INSTALLATION

1. Install water pump.
- Tighten the water pump fixing bolts to the specified torque.
Torque N.m (lb.ft.) 19 (14)
- Tighten the water pump fixing nut to the specified torque.
Torque N.m (lb.ft.) 25 (20)
2. Timing bolt lower cover.
- Tighten the timing belt lower cover fixing bolts to the specified torque.
Torque N.m (lb.ft.) 6 (4)
3. Timing belt upper cover.
- Tighten the timing belt upper cover fixing bolts to the specified torque.
Torque N.m (lb.ft.) 6 (4)
4. Crank pulley.
- Tighten the crank pulley fixing bolt to the specified torque.
Torque N.m (lb.ft.) 122 (90)
5. Starter motor.
6. Water pump pulley.
- Temporary tighten the water pump pulley fixing nuts.
7. Generator drive belts.
- Tighten the generator fixing bolts.
8. Air Conditioning compressor drive belt.
9. Air Conditioning compressor idler pulley.
10. Power steering pump drive belt (If so equipped).
- Tighten the power steering pump fixing bolts to the specified torque.
Torque N.m (lb.ft.) 43 (32)
11. Fan and fan clutch.
- Tighten the fan and fan clutch fixing nuts to the specified torque.
Torque N.m (lb.ft.) 27 (20)
12. Upper fan shroud.
13. Lower fan shroud.
14. Air duct assembly.
15. Radiator hoses.
