With ECM Harness Connector Terminals
The Engine Control Module (ECM) Harnesses are connected with two types of connectors each of which has specific numbers as shown. The following inspection procedures refer to the specific numbers:
NOTE: When checking the system, note the numbers carefully to avoid wrong connections since Battery power is applied to some terminals only when the Ignition Switch is turned to "ON" position.
Inspection Procedure
The inspection to monitor DTCs should be performed in the following steps.
1. When a problem is not found through checks in steps 1 and 2 in above image:
- Clear the memory.
- Reconnect the circuit properly.
- Road test the Vehicle.
- Obtain DTC display to see if the trouble has been corrected.
- If the trouble persists, repeat the OBD System Check.
2. When making a continuity test or short out test on the circuit, disconnect wiring at the ECM, Sensor or the Actuator.
3. When checking ECM Harness Connector Terminals, make connection by inserting the pin end of the lead. Avoid connecting tester point directly to the ECM Terminal.
