Flow of Diagnosis
Flow Of Diagnosis:
1. Query the customer if possible to obtain a complete history and description of the complaint. Road test the vehicle as needed to simulate conditions under which the problem occurs. Perform a thorough and careful under hood inspection. Many problems can be cured at this stage by finding and repairing broken wires, loose electrical connections, collapsed or split vacuum hoses, heat damaged components, etc.
2. Check for applicable TSB's. There may be an updated or modified repair or adjustment procedure directly related to the current complaint.
3. Extract fault (trouble) codes as described under COMPUTER AND CONTROL SYSTEMS / DIAGNOSIS, TESTING AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES / TESTING PROCEDURES / ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS and repair problems as indicated. If no codes are present, refer to DIAGNOSIS BY SYMPTOM.
