Voltage is applied at all times through fuse C-16 to the rear defogger relay contact. With the starter switch in ON or START, voltage is applied through fuse C-4 to the rear defogger relay coil.

With the rear defogger switch in ON, ground is provided for the rear defogger relay coil. The rear defogger relay energizes and the relay contact closes. Battery voltage is applied to the rear defogger and the rear defogger indicator light. The indicator lights up and the rear defogger heats the rear window to remove any fog from the glass. The rear defogger switch must be pushed again to turn the rear defogger OFF.
