Oil Pump: Service and Repair
1. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.2. Disconnect battery ground cable
3. Remove drive belts, then the radiator fan bolts.
4. Place fan and viscous coupling inside fan shroud, then remove water pump pulley.
5. Remove starter motor.
6. Remove crankshaft pulley, using crankshaft holding tool No. J-38674, or equivalent to aid in removing crankshaft pulley bolt.
7. Remove timing belt.
8. Remove oil pump drive pulley using puller tool No. J-22888, or equivalent.

9. Remove oil pump mounting bolts, then slide oil pump out of block, Fig. 61.
10. Reverse procedures to install, noting the following:
a. When reinstalling oil pump drive pulley, apply Loctite 262 sealant, or equivalent to first thread of oil pump shaft.
b. Tighten bolt to specifications.
11. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
