RODEO (UC) SECURITY SYSTEM UNINTENTIONAL SOUNDING
APPLICABLE VEHICLES
1994-95 Rodeo (UC) models equipped with security system.
On some affected vehicles, the security system can unintentionally sound off when the steering wheel horn pad is pressed. Voltage spikes from the horn circuit can travel back through the security system main wire harness to the electronic module assembly causing the module assembly to sound the system unintentionally.
To correct the problem, install a horn pigtail harness (Part No. 2-90309-525-0) between the low note horn and its 2-pin connector, using the procedure described in this Service Bulletin. A diode contained in the pigtail harness prevents voltage spikes from traveling back through the main wire harness to the module assembly.
