Installation

NOTE: To install, follow the removal steps in the reverse order, noting the following points;





1. Transmission assembly (20). Slowly raise transmission jack until front of the transmission is aligned with rear of the engine.





2. Engine-transmission bolt (19). Tighten engine-transmission bolts, to the specified torque.
3. Flywheel-torque converter bolt (18):
a. Align the flywheel-torque converter bolt boss with the starter portion of the converter housing by turning torque converter.





b. Install flywheel-torque converter bolts (3 pieces) by turning crankshaft.
- Torque 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).

4. Flywheel under cover.(17)
- Torque 6 Nm (52 inch lbs.).

5. Starter (16).
- Torque 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

6. Heat protector.(15)
- Torque 6 Nm (52 inch lbs.).

7. Stiffener (14).
- Torque 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).

8. Front crossmember (13).
- Torque 78 Nm (58 ft. lbs.).

9. Transmission oil cooler pipe (12):
a. Install transmission oil cooler pipe to transmission.
- Torque 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
b. Install oil pipe clamp bracket to engine stiffener. Tighten oil pipe clamp bolt at engine mount side.

10. Exhaust pipe (11):
a. Torque:
- Exh. pipe to exh. Manifold 67 Nm (49 ft. lbs.).
- Exh. pipe flange bolt 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
b. Connect four oxygen sensor connectors to transmission harness connector.

11. Front propeller shaft (10).
12. Third crossmember (9).
- Torque 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).

13. Rear mount nut (8).
- Torque 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

14. Rear propeller shaft (7).
- Torque 63 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).

15. Transfer protectors (6).
- Torque 37 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).





16. Harness (5):
a. Connect transmission and mode switch harness connectors to engine harness.
b. Connect harness clamp to engine harness clamp bracket and radiator clip.
c. Connect around harness to engine.

17. Air cleaner assembly (4).
18. Transfer control lever (3).
19. Selector lever assembly (2).
20. Front console (1):
a. Connect wiring harness connectors.
b. Install transfer control lever knob.
c. Connect negative (-) battery cable.
d. Install engine hood.
e. Adjust shift lock cable.
