Oil Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Remove timing belt. Service and Repair
3. Remove crankshaft timing pulley.
4. Remove oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Service and Repair
5. Oil strainer and rubber ring
6. Oil cooler assembly
7. Oil pump






5. Remove oil pump. Carefully remove sealing materials from both oil pump flange and cylinder block.
6. Using a screwdriver, remove oil seal, if necessary. Take care not to damage mounting surfaces of oil pump and cylinder

INSTALLATION






7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Apply suitable sealant to oil pump fitting face (TB-1207B).
Ensure sealant is not applied to oil ports,.






b. Use oil seal installer tool No. J-39202, or equivalent, to install new oil seal into oil pump assembly.
c. Apply engine oil to oil seal lip.

NOTE: Do not damage oil seal during installation of oil pump assembly.

d. Do not force garter spring ( lip spring) of seal out of position during installation.
e. Tighten oil pump assembly retaining bolts to specification.
Torque: N.m (lb-ft) 18 (13).
8. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
