SERVICE INFORMATION

Condition:
Some owners may comment about rust on the transmission fluid level indicator and the transmission oil filler tube.

Possible Cause:
The condition may be caused from water entering through the indicator grommet.

Correction:
A new indicator, with an improved grommet and corrosion resistant metal, has been developed to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Use the following procedure and the appropriate part numbers listed below.

1. Inspect the Transmission Fluid Level Indicator for signs of excessive rust. If there are no signs of rust replace the fluid level indicator with the revised indicator. If there are signs of rust, then proceed to step 2.

2. Inspect the transmission fluid filler tube for signs of excessive rust on the inside or outside of the tube. Replace the tube as necessary. Refer to the appropriate Work- shop Manual for Filler Tube Replacement procedures for Automatic Transmission 4L60E.

3. Replace the transmission filter, Change the transmission fluid.
