Owner Letter
DEAR ISUZU HOMBRE OWNER:This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Isuzu Motors Limited has determined that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists on certain 1997 Hombre extended cab models equipped with the 60/40 split bench seat.
WHAT IS THE CONDITION?
Some affected vehicles may experience a condition in which the driver's and/or front passenger's outboard seat belt webbing could separate during a frontal impact having at least the same dynamics as a 30 mph frontal barrier collision. Although the restraint system meets all the Motor Vehicle Safety Standards requirements with the separation condition, if a separation occurred and there were secondary crash events or a rollover, there would be no seat belt restraint of the driver and/or front passenger, and increased injuries could occur.
WHAT WE WILL DO
To prevent this condition from occurring, your Isuzu dealer will install a plastic protector cover onto the seatback recliner assembly of both the driver and front passenger seats. this service will be performed for you at no charge.
