Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Inspect the following areas:
^ Exhaust pipes
^ Seals
^ Three way catalytic converters
^ Tail pipes
2. Inspect the exhaust system for the following conditions:
^ Broken welds
^ Corrosion that would cause a leak
^ Cracked joints
3. Inspect the following components:
^ Clamps
^ Brackets
^ Insulators
4. Inspect the exhaust system for cracks. Inspect the connections for stripped bolt heads. Inspect the fasteners for rusted bolt threads.
5. The exhaust system, including the heat shields, must be free of the following conditions:
^ Leaks
^ Binding
^ Grounding
^ Excessive vibration
6. If any of these conditions exist, check the exhaust system component alignment. Align as necessary. Replace as necessary.
