Brakes Dragging
POSSIBLE CAUSE1. Master cylinder pistons not returning correctly.
Correction - Adjust stop light switch and vacuum booster operating rod. If necessary, rebuild.
2. Restricted brake pipes or hoses.
Correction - Check for soft hoses or damaged pipes, and replace with new hoses and new double-walled steel brake piping.
3. Parking brake maladjusted.
Correction - Adjust.
4. Brake pad or lining clearance insufficient.
Correction - Adjust.
5. Brake pedal free play insufficient.
Correction - Adjust brake pedal height or power cylinder operating rod.
6. Piston in master cylinder sticking.
Correction - Clean or replace
7. Piston in disc brake caliper sticking.
Correction - Replace piston seals.
8. Pistons in rear brake wheel cylinders sticking.
Correction - Clean or replace.
9. Brake pads sticking in caliper.
Correction - Clean.
10. Return spring weakened.
Correction - Replace.
11. Parking brake binding.
Correction - Overhaul rear brakes or replace cable.
12. Front hub bearing preload incorrect.
Correction - Adjust or replace.
13. Rear brake shoes not returning.
Correction - Correct or replace brake back plate, check automatic adjuster and replace as necessary.
14. Obstructions in hydraulic circuit.
Correction - Clean.
15. Rotor warped excessively.
Correction - Grind or replace.
16. Rear brake drum distorted.
Correction - Grind or replace.
17. Piston cups swollen.
Correction - Replace brake fluid and piston cups.
18. Vacuum hose check valve faulty.
Correction - Replace.
19. Parking brake cable sticking.
Correction - Clean or replace.
