NO CRANK AND NO START CONDITION ON 2.2L HEC ENGINES

AFFECTED VEHICLES

All 1998 - 2000 Rodeo (UE) and Amigo (UA) models with 2.2L HEC engine

SERVICE INFORMATION

On 1998 - 2000 Rodeo (UE) and Amigo (UA) models with 2.2L HEC engine may encounter a no crank and/or no start condition. This may be due to a poor or loose connection at the starter solenoid - main battery connection.

NOTE:
Poor contact from the crimped washer at the bolt junction may be incorrectly installed, which may result in a damaged starter solenoid.

In order to correct the condition, inspect the crimped washer for looseness and perform a bench test on the starter. If the washer is loose, then the starter assembly will need to be replaced.
