1998 Rodeo (UE) and Amigo (UA) models.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Condition:
Abnormal rubbing noise from the steering column is detected when the steering wheel is turned.
Possible Cause:
The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) coil assembly is making contact during turning.
Correction:
Replace the SRS coil assembly (New P/N 8-97211392-0) using the procedures outlined in this bulletin.
NOTE The notice in the workshop manual section 9J instructs technicians against separating the SRS coil from the combination switch. This notice should be disregarded when performing this service procedure. Previously, replacement SRS coils were shipped pre-assembled together with the combination switch. For the purpose of this bulletin, AIPDN will stock SRS coil assemblies separately under the new part number 8-97211392-0.
