Hood Protector - Rattle

AFFECTED VEHICLES

1998 Rodeo (UE), Amigo (UA) models equipped with Genuine Isuzu accessory hood protector.

^ Vehicle production date: July 1997 to July 1998

SERVICE INFORMATION

Condition:
The accessory hood protector rattles during vehicle operation.

Possible Cause:
The mounting tabs of the hood protector may be loose.

Correction:
Replace the hood protector end mounting tab screws and well nuts using the Well Nut (Kit) listed under PARTS INFORMATION.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Open the hood.

2. Remove the screw, two steel washers, rubber washer and the well nut, from each end of the hood protector and mounting tabs.

^ Discard the old screws and well nuts.

3. Loosely attach the new screw, two steel washers, rubber washer, and the new well nut, to each end of the hood protector and mount tabs.

4. Secure the end-mounting tabs by pressing the well nuts into the mounting holes in the hood.

5. While holding the tab firmly in place against the underside of the hood, hand tighten the screws to expand the well nuts and secure the end-mounting tabs.

6. Test the expansion of the well nut, with a light tug on the end-mounting tab to ensure an effective hold.
