Water Pump: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the coolant from the radiator. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement or Drive Belt Replacement.
3. Remove upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Upper).
4. Remove the fan. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement.
5. Remove the fan clutch assembly.
6. Remove the coolant pump drive pulley.
7. Remove the coolant pump attaching nuts and bolts.
8. Remove the coolant pump.
9. Remove the coolant pump gasket.
10. Inspect, to make sure all parts are free of burs or other imperfections, replace as necessary.
11. Clean all of the mating surfaces.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the coolant pump gasket to the engine.
2. Install the coolant pump to the engine.
3. Apply sealant to the bolt threads.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Vehicle Damage Warnings
4. Install the coolant pump attaching bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the coolant pump attaching bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the coolant pump drive pulley.
6. Install the fan clutch assembly. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement.
7. Install the cooling fan.
8. Install the multiple ribbed accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement or Drive Belt Replacement.
9. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Upper).
10. Fill the radiator with the specified coolant and concentration. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
11. Inspect the cooling system for leaks. Refer to Cooling System Leak Testing.
