Water Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Drain the coolant from the radiator. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement or Drive Belt Replacement.
3. Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Upper).
4. Remove the cooling fan. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement.
5. Remove the cooling fan clutch.





6. Remove the coolant pump drive pulley.
7. Loosen the radiator outlet hose clamp.
8. Remove radiator outlet hose from the coolant numb





9. Remove the coolant pump attaching bolts.





10. Remove the coolant pump from the engine.





11. Remove the coolant pump gaskets.
12. Be sure all mating surfaces are clean and free of gasket material or burst

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the coolant pump gaskets.





2. Install the coolant pump to the engine.
3. Apply sealant to the bolt threads.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





4. Install the coolant pump attaching bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the attaching bolts to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)

5. Place the radiator outlet hose clamp loosely on the end of the hose.
6. Connect the radiator outlet hose to the coolant pump.
7. Tighten the radiator hose clamp.





8. Install the coolant pump drive pulley.
9. Install the fan clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement.
10. Install the cooling fan.
11. Install the multiple ribbed accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement or Drive Belt Replacement.
12. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement.
13. Fill the radiator with the specified coolant and concentration. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
14. Check the cooling system for leaks. Refer to Cooling System Leak Testing.
