Wiper Transmission Assembly Replacement

Tools Required:
J 39232 Wiper Transmission Disassembly Tool
J 39529 Wiper Transmission Assembly Tool

Wiper Transmission Assembly Replacement:

Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative battery cable. Refer to the CHASSIS/BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
2. Wiper arm assemblies. Refer to "Wiper Arm Assembly Replacement."
3. Cowl vent grille.
4. Transmission screws.
5. Transmission assembly from the vehicle.
- Unseat the transmission assembly from the wiper motor crank arm using J39232, and remove it through the access openings in the top of the cowl.

Wiper Transmission Assembly Replacement:

Install or Connect
1. Transmission assembly to the vehicle.

NOTE: Refer to the Fastener Note in the GENERAL INFORMATION.

2. Transmission screws.
- Lubricate the inside of the socket with white lithium grease.

Tighten
- Wiper transmission assembly mounting screws to 14 N.m (10 lbs. ft.).

3. Transmission drive link to wiper motor crank arm using J 39529.

Important
- Wiper transmission assembly must be assembled to the crank arm past the second detent so the seal is compressed to a maximum height of 25 mm (1 inch).

4. Cowl vent grille.
5. Wiper arm assemblies. Refer to "Wiper Arm Assembly Replacement."
6. Negative battery cable. Refer to the CHASSIS/BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

Inspect
- Perform System Check.
