Oil Pump: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the engine oil pan.
Refer to Oil Pan Replacement.
2. Remove the oil pump bolt.
3. Remove the oil pump from the engine.
4. Remove the oil pump drive shaft and the retainer.
5. Inspect the retainer for the oil pump drive shaft for cracks. Replace the retainer if necessary.
6. Inspect the mating surfaces between the engine and the oil pump. It must be clean and free of burrs.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Heat the oil pump drive shaft retainer in hot water.
2. Install the oil pump drive shaft retainer onto the oil pump drive shaft.
IMPORTANT: Do not crack the oil pump drive shaft retainer when installing the oil pump drive shaft.
3. Install the oil pump drive shaft into the oil pump.
4. Install the oil pump to the engine.
5. Install the oil pump bolt to the rear main bearing cap.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 44 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the engine oil pan.
