Power Door Locks
CIRCUIT OPERATIONWhen a Door Lock and Side Window Switch is activated in the power Door Lock system, all doors lock or unlock in unison. The locks are operated by reversible Actuators that receive voltage from the Door Lock Relay. The Door Lock Relay provides power or ground to one side of the Door Lock Actuators. the Door Unlock Relay controls the passenger side Door Lock Actuator. The driver's Door Unlock Relay controls the driver's Door Lock Actuator. The Body Control Module (BCM) controls the round to the driver's Door Unlock Relay. Inputs from CKT 294 (TAN) and CKT 295 (GRY) to the BCM are used by the BCM to control the driver's Door Unlock Relay. When either Door Lock and Side Window Switch is moved to the lock position, battery voltage is applied to the coil side of the Door Lock Relay. The Door Lock Relay is energized and voltage is applied to the Door Lock Actuators. The ground for the passenger Side Door Lock Actuator is provided through the Door Unlock Relay and ground for the driver's door is provided through the driver's Door Unlock Relay. When eight Door Lock and Side Window Switch is moved to the unlock position, battery voltage is applied to the coil side of the Door Unlock Relay and the BCM. This supplies voltage to the passenger Door Lock Actuator. The BCM then grounds the driver's Door Unlock Relay which provides power to the driver's Door Lock Actuator. Ground to both Actuators is provided through the Door Lock Relay. With remote keyless entry, the BCM receives an input from the RFA module. The BCM can control both locking and Unlocking of the doors. Software in the BCM allows the RKE to unlock only the driver's door with one press of the button or both doors when the button is pressed twice.
