SERVICE INFORMATION

Condition:
The MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) comes on with A/T DTC P0740 (faulty lock-up control system) and PGM-FI DTC P0700 (transmission control system malfunction) stored in the PCM (Powertrain Control Module).

Correction:
To correct this condition, replace the PCM with a new PCM (P/N 5-86207-356-0) using the procedure outlined in this bulletin.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the right door sill molding.

2. Pull the passenger's floor carpet back to expose the PCM cover.

3. Remove the PCM cover mounting nuts, then remove the cover.

4. Remove the three PCM mounting bolts, disconnect the four harness connectors, and remove the PCM.

5. Install the new PCM in the reverse order of removal.
