1998 OASIS (VO) FRONT DISC BRAKES: LOW-SPEED BRAKE GROAN
AFFECTED VEHICLES
Certain 1998 Oasis (VO) models.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Condition:
When coming to a stop at low speed, the front brakes make a low, growling noise and the vehicle vibrates.
Possible Cause:
Change in the brake pad manufacturing process.
Correction:
Replace the front brake pads with new brake pads (P/N 5-86203-043-0).

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the old front brake pads and shims.
2. Apply Molykote M77 (included with new pads) to the back of the new front brake pads and to both sides of the new shims. Be sure you wipe all excess grease from the shims. (Figure 1)
3. Install the new front brake pads and shims, making sure that the pad retainers are properly positioned in the caliper bracket and wear indicator is on the inside of the caliper.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 to replace the brake pads on the other front wheel.
