AFFECTED VEHICLES

1998 Rodeo (UE) models equipped with the dealer-installed or vehicle owner-installed accessory rubber floor mat set (Part No. 2-90496-800-0), retailed from start of sale to 10/31/97 by the dealers listed in Attachment A.








ATTACHMENT A

SERVICE INFORMATION

Condition: On affected vehicles. the driver-side rubber floor mat may shift position causing the lip along the tipper right portion of the mat to catch the bottom of the accelerator pedal. If this occurs, the accelerator pedal could wedge between the rubber floor mat and the floor and cause a crash without prior warning.

Possible Cause: Current design of the accessory rubber floor mat set.

Correction: To prevent this condition from occurring. Isuzu dealers will remove the accessory rubber floor mat sets (Part No. 2-90496-800-0) (Figure 1) from all affected vehicles so equipped in dealer inventory and from their parts department inventory. and will return the sets to their facing Parts Distribution Center (PDC).

IMPORTANT!
The affected vehicles be sure to remove and return only the accessory rubber floor mat set, not the carpeted floor mat set (Figure 2), if the vehicle is so equipped. Although the carpeted floor mat set does have a rubber backing to it, it is not subject to this recall.

Owners of affected vehicles already retailed will be notified by letter and will be asked to remove the accessory rubber floor mat set from their vehicles, if so equipped, and to return the set to American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI) for reimbursement.
