Owner Letter
DEAR ISUZU TROOPER OWNER:This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Isuzu Motors Limited has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1998 Trooper models equipped with Torque-On-Demand (TOD).
WHAT IS THE CONDITION?
On some affected vehicles, the front and rear output flange lock nuts of the Torque-On-Demand 4-wheel-drive transfer case may not be properly secured. In such cases there is a possibility that flange lock nuts could loosen, causing separation of the propeller shaft, rendering the vehicle inoperative.
WHAT WE WILL DO
To correct this condition your Isuzu dealer will inspect the transfer case flange nuts, and properly secure them if necessary. This service will be performed for you at no charge.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Please contact your Isuzu dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service date. Your dealer will need a few days notice and the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), as shown in top left hand corner of this letter, to coordinate parts delivery and service schedules. Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your Isuzu dealer. The length of time required to perform this correction is more than 2 hours. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much additional time will be needed to schedule and process your vehicle.
