Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

REMOVAL




1. Loosen the clamp securing the MAF sensor to the AIR cleaner housing cover.
2. Remove the MAF sensor from the air cleaner housing and position it aside.




3. Remove the air cleaner housing mounting nut.




4. Remove the air cleaner housing by pulling upward until the mounting studs are free from the housing grommets.

INSTALLATION




1. Install the air cleaner housing by pressing downward on the housing until the grommets are seated on the mounting studs.






2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Note in Service Precautions.

Install the air cleaner housing mounting nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (88 lb in).






3. NOTE: Handle the MAF sensor carefully. Do not drop the MAF sensor. Do not damage the screen located at the air inlet end of the MAF. Do not touch the sensing elements. Do not allow solvents and lubricants to come in contact with the sensing elements. Use a small amount Of SPO P/N 12345884 lubricant or the soap based equivalent in order to aid in the installation.

Insert the MAF sensor into the air cleaner housing cover.

4. Secure the air cleaner housing to the MAF sensor.

Tighten
Tighten the MAF sensor clamp to 4 N.m (35 lb in).
