Electronic Column Lock Module (Floor Shift)

Disassembly Procedure


1. Remove the upper tilt head components. Refer to T/S Can. Cam Upper Bearing Inner Race (Floor Shift).
2. Remove the steering column lock cylinder set. Refer to On-Vehicle Service; Tilt Column; Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement.




3. Remove the connector (2) from the electric park lock (1).




4. Pry the electric park lock (2) off of the lock module assembly (1).




5. Remove the key alarm connector (1) from the lock module assembly (2) in the following way:
1. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees.
2. Pull the key alarm connector (1) out of the lock module assembly (2).
3. Remove the passkey connector from the lock module assembly (2).




6. Slide the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (2) out of the lock module assembly (1).
7. Let the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (2) hang freely.




8. Remove the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) from the lock module assembly (2).

Important: The lock bolt assembly (4) is under slight spring tension from the lock bolt spring (3). Hold the lock bolt (4) in place while removing the lock module assembly (2).

9. Remove the lock module assembly (2) and the lock bolt assembly (4) from the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
10. Remove the lock bolt spring (3) from the lock bolt assembly (4).

Assembly Procedure




1. Install the lock bolt spring (3) into the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
2. Position the cutout in the lock bolt assembly (4) at the 6 o'clock position.
3. Install the lock bolt assembly (4) into the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
4. Push the lock bolt assembly (4) into the steering column tilt head assembly (5) until the lock bolt assembly (4) is flush with the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
5. Align the lock module assembly (2) with the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
6. Screw the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) into the lock module assembly (2).
Tighten
Tighten the 3 pan head tapping screws to 7 N.m (62 lb in).





7. Slide the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (2) into the lock module assembly (1).




8. Snap the electric park lock (2) onto the lock module assembly (1).




9. Reconnect the connector (2) to the electric park lock (1).




10. Install the key alarm connector (1) onto the lock module assembly (2) in the following way:
1. Push the key alarm connector (1) into the lock module assembly (2).
2. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees so that the key alarm connector locks into place.
3. Install the passkey connector into the lock module assembly (2).
11. Install the steering column lock cylinder set. Refer to On-Vehicle Service; Tilt Column; Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement.
12. Install the upper tilt head components Refer to T/S Can. Cam, Upper Bearing Inner Race (Floor Shift).
