Cylinder Head Assembly: Service and Repair
Cylinder Head ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove the accessory mounting bracket.
4. Remove the exhaust manifold.
5. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.
6. Remove the valve rocker arms and push rods.
7. Disconnect the fuel pipes from the fuel rails.
Important: The intake manifold can remain on the cylinder head. Please refer to Intake Manifold; Service and Repair, if removal is necessary.
Service and Repair
8. Remove the cylinder head.
9. Clean all sealing surfaces.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the intake manifold if the intake manifold was removed.
2. Install the cylinder head.
3. Connect the fuel pipes to the fuel rails.
4. Install the valve rocker arms and push rods.
5. Install the valve rocker arm cover.
6. Install the exhaust manifold.
7. Install the accessory mounting bracket.
8. Fill the engine coolant.
9. Connect the battery negative cable.
