Radiator: Service and Repair
Radiator ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Drain the coolant from the radiator.
2. Disconnect the coolant recovery reservoir hose.
3. Loosen the radiator hose clamps.
4. Disconnect the (upper) radiator inlet hose from the radiator.
5. Remove the upper fan shroud.
6. Disconnect the radiator hoses from the radiator (2.2L, RWD Pickups).
7. Disconnect the radiator hoses from the radiator (4.3L, 4WD).
8. Disconnect the engine oil cooler lines from the radiator (if equipped).
9. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines from the radiator, if equipped.
1O. Lift the lower fan shroud just enough to disengage the locating tabs.
11. Remove the radiator by lifting the radiator up and out of the vehicle.
12. Inspect all sealing surfaces for deterioration or signs of leakage.
Installation Procedure
1. Place the lower fan shroud in position under the cooling fan.
2. Install the radiator onto the rubber mounts in the vehicle.
3. Connect the engine oil cooler line nuts to the radiator, if equipped.
4. Connect the transmission oil cooler line nuts to the radiator, if equipped.
Tighten the oil cooler line nuts to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
5. Connect the radiator hoses to the radiator (2.2L, RWD Pickups).
6. Connect the radiator hoses to the radiator (4.3l, 4WD).
7. Fasten the upper fan shroud to the lower fan shroud.
8. Connect the coolant recovery reservoir hoses to the radiator .
9. Fill the radiator with rhe specified coolant and concentration.
10. Inspect the cooling system for leaks.
