Seat Temperature Element: Description and Operation
When the ignition switch is in ON or START, battery voltage is applied to the driver's and passenger's front seat heater switches through fuse C-2.Heat Operation
When the driver's or passenger's front seat heater switch is moved to HEAT battery voltage is applied through the circuit breaker in the seat cushion to both the seat cushion and seat back heating elements. The heating elements draw maximum current causing them to heat up quickly and to a high temperature. The seat back is grounded through the seat heater switch to G404 while the seat cushion element is grounded directly to G404. When the temperature becomes too high, the circuit breakers in the seat cushion open, removing voltage from the circuit. When the temperature falls to a safe level, the circuit breakers close, supplying voltage to the circuit again.
Keep Operation
When you move the driver's or passenger's front seat heater switch to KEEP, battery voltage is applied through the seat back heating element to the seat cushion heating element. The seat cushion element is grounded directly to G404. With battery voltage applied to the heating elements in this direction, they draw less current, and do not reach as high a temperature as In the HEAT position.
