Front Fender: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the radiator grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
2. Remove the hood bumper from the fender. Refer to Hood Bumper Replacement.
3. Remove the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement.
4. Remove the antenna mast and the base. Refer to Fixed Antenna Mast Replacement and Coaxial Cable Replacement in Entertainment.
5. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
6. Remove the radiator coolant reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
7. Remove the electronic brake control module from the fender. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
8. Remove the vacuum tank from the left fender. Refer to Vacuum Tank Replacement in Air Conditioning Heater and Ventilation
9. Remove the electrical harness retaining clips from the fender.




10. Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the radiator support.




11. Remove the bolt that retains the fender to the reinforcement.
12. Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the cowl.
13. Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the door hinge.
14. Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the rocker panel.




15. Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the wheelhouse.
16. Disconnect the wiring and the vacuum lines from the fender.
17. Remove the fender from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the fender to the vehicle.




2. Connect the wiring and the vacuum lines to the fender.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Note in Cautions and Notes.




3. Install the bolts that retain the fender to the wheelhouse.

Tighten
Tighten the fender to the wheelhouse bolts to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).

4. Install the bolts that retain the fender to the door hinge.

Tighten
Tighten the fender to the door hinge bolts to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).

5. Install the fender to the cowl.

Tighten
Tighten the fender to the cowl bolts to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).

6. Install the bolt that retains fender to the door frame.

Tighten
Tighten the fender to the door frame bolts to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).




7. Install the bolt that retains the fender to the reinforcement.

Tighten
Tighten the fender to the reinforcement bolts to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).

8. Install the bolts that retain the fender to the radiator support.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).

9. Install the radiator coolant bottle. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
10. Install the vacuum tank to the left fender. Refer to Vacuum Tank Replacement in Air Conditioning Heater and Ventilation
11. Install the electrical harness retaining clips to the fender.
12. Install the electronic brake control module to the fender. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
13. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
14. Install the antenna mast and the base. Refer to Coaxial Cable Replacement and Fixed Antenna Mast Replacement in Entertainment.
15. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement.
16. Install the hood bumper to the fender. Refer to Hood Bumper Replacement.
17. Install the radiator grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
