Scan Tool Diagnostics

Scan Tool Output Controls
Use the scan tool in order to cycle the instrument cluster indicators, the gauges, and the PRNDL display functions. The following tests are available under the Special Functions selection:

Lamp Test
The following indicators can be commanded ON or OFF.
- Volts Lamp
- Low Fuel
- ABS Lamp
- Brake Lamp
- Security Lamp Seat Belt Lamp
- High Beam Lamp
- Up shift Lamp
- Overspeed Lamp (Export)
- Service 4WD Lamp
- Air Bag Lamp

IPC Gauges
The following gauges can be swept:
- Coolant Gauge Sweep Test
- Fuel Gauge Sweep Test
- Speed Gauge Sweep Test
- Tach Gauge Sweep Test

PRNDL Display
The following PRNDL displays can be commanded ON:
- Park
- Reverse
- Neutral
- Drive
- 3rd
- 2nd
- 1st

Scan Tool Data List
Refer to the below data tables when one of the following conditions exist:
- The Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check is complete.
- The on board diagnostics are operating correctly.
- No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCS) are displayed.

The typical scan tool data values are an average of the displayed values recorded from normally operating vehicles. The typical scan tool data values are intended to represent what a normally functioning system would display with certain preliminary settings. The values you get may vary slightly due to a low battery charge or other reasons. But the values should be very close.

Use only the parameters listed in the tables for diagnosis. If a scan tool reads other parameters, the values are not recommended for use in diagnosis. Refer to the Scan tool data definitions for further detailed information.

Typical Scan Tool Data Display
Preliminary Settings: The following preliminary settings must be set in order to achieve the same typical data values listed in the table.
- The parking brake is set with the ignition switch in the OFF position (DRL and AHL Disabled).
- The Ignition switch in the RUN position.
- The engine is running.
- The automatic transmission is in the PARK position.
- The manual transmission is in the NEUTRAL position The air conditioning is OFF.
