ABS Light On At High Speeds Install New PCM

Issue Date: March, 2004

Affected Vehicles

2000 Isuzu Hombre models equipped with 2.2L engines (VIN's 4, 5 - RPO's LN2, L43) and 4L60-E Automatic Transmission (RPO M30).

Service Information

Condition:

Some customers may comment that the ABS light comes on at high speeds above 70 mph or 113 km/h.

Possible Cause:

A DTC C0237, Rear Wheel Speed Signal Erratic, will be found. This condition may be due to normal fluctuations in the vehicle speed sensor signal that pass from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM).

Correction:

The PCM has been revised to add signal filtering to the speed sensor signal that is passed to the EBCM.

Service Procedure

Install a new PCM according to the appropriate Service Manual.

NOTE:
The VSS Signal Filter is the only change to the PCM. This PCM should not be used in an attempt to repair any condition other than the subject of this bulletin.
