SERVICE INFORMATION

CONDITION
Isuzu Motors Limited designed two fuel system shields for the previous Safety Campaign # 00V-253, to address the potential for fuel leakage in certain high speed, frontal crashes. Subsequently, Isuzu Motors Limited learned from a crash test performed at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) that the upper one of the two new fuel system shields can, in combination with the Torque-On-Demand (TOD) unit and other parts inside the engine compartment, lead to the potential for a different fuel leak.

CORRECTION
To correct this condition, on all affected 2001 MY vehicles, install a new, longer and reinforced Fuel Hose Assembly by following the procedures in this campaign bulletin.

All affected 2000 MY vehicles in dealer stock should have already been retrofitted with the Safety Campaign # 00V-253 repairs. On Affected 2000 MY vehicles in the possession of customers (some already had the Safety Campaign # 00V-253 repairs completed and some have not) dealers will install the new, longer and reinforced Fuel Hose Assembly and check to make sure that the repairs required by Safety Campaign # 00V-253 have been completed. If they have not been completed, dealers are to perform both repairs.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

Isuzu dealers must service all affected vehicles at no charge to the owner. regardless of mileage age of vehicle, or ownership.

NOTE:
All affected model year 2001 Troopers wholesaled to Isuzu dealers after November 08, 2000 will already have been repaired under this Safety Campaign, and will already have the campaign label affixed on the driver's side B-pillar adjacent to the manufacturer's identification label.

Whenever a vehicle subject to this campaign is in a dealer's vehicle inventory. or arrives at a dealership for service, the dealer must take the necessary steps to ensure that this campaign correction has been made before selling or releasing the vehicle.

All unsold new vehicles in dealer's possession and subject to this campaign must be held and repaired per the service procedure in this Campaign Bulletin before being retailed.

OWNER NOTIFICATION

American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI) Will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles already retailed by mail on November 27, 2000 (See sample of owner notification letter).
