Service Information
Condition:
Some customers may comment that the right rear door glass binds when rolling up or down.
Possible Cause:
The door glass may have come out of the run channel and lodged itself between the rubber weatherstrip and the metal run channel. If this happens, the weatherstrip in the run channel may have come out of the run channel. Use the following correction procedures if there is a window binding concern even if no apparent rubber strip movement has occurred.
Correction:
Modify run channel.
Service Procedure
1. Remove the right rear door trim following the Service Manual.
2. Roll the window to the full up position. Loosening the run channel may be necessary if it is jammed in the rubber weatherstrip.
3. Using your fingers, grip the rubber weatherstrip and remove from the run channel. Rotate the rubber weatherstrip 180 degrees.
4. The profiles of the rubber weatherstrip edges are slightly different. Flipping the weatherstrip 180 degrees places the larger profile to the outboard side of the door channel. Measure the weatherstrip to confirm that the larger profile is toward the outside.
5. Mark the rubber weatherstrip 10 mm (3/8 in) down from the top.
6. Trim the newly oriented rubber weatherstrip with a V-cut at a 45 degree angle.
7. Reinstall the rubber weatherstrip making certain that the weatherstrip is reinstalled flush to the top and bottom of the run channel.
