Endgate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open the endgate (drop mode). Secure with the prop rod.
2. Remove the right rear tail lamp assembly.




3. Remove the bolt (2) retaining the endgate harness to the body.
4. Remove the endgate harness grommet (3) from the body, but do not disconnect the harness.
5. Remove the endgate support cable.




6. Remove the bolt (1) retaining the hinge assemblies to the endgate.
7. Remove the upper hinge strap screw (2) retaining the body side hinge to the endgate side hinge.
8. Close the endgate.
9. Open the endgate (swing mode).
10. Remove the endgate torque rod.
11. Remove the endgate trim panel.
12. Remove the endgate control module.
13. Remove the inner panel reinforcement.
14. Remove the endgate wedge.
15. Remove the rear wiper arm.
16. Remove the endgate window outer sealing strip.
17. Remove the endgate window reveal molding.
18. Remove the endgate window.
19. Remove the endgate window regulator.
20. Remove the endgate window run channels.
21. Remove the endgate license plate pocket.
22. Remove the left upper endgate latch.
23. Remove the left lower endgate latch.
24. Remove the rear wiper motor.
25. Remove the endgate harness.




26. Remove the lower hinge strap bolt (1) retaining the body side hinge to the endgate hinge.




27. With an assistant holding the endgate, manually release the right hand upper latch (2), by sliding the release lever (1) using a flat-bladed tool.




28. With an assistant, lift the endgate (2) off the integral locating pins (1) on the hinge.
29. Place the endgate assembly on a clean protected surface.
30. Remove the right side upper latch bracket assembly from the endgate.
31. Remove the hinge from the endgate.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the hinge to the endgate.
2. Install the right side upper latch bracket assembly to the endgate.




3. With an assistant, place the endgate (2) on the integral location pin (1) on the hinge.
4. With an assistant, secure the right upper latch to the striker, ensuring the latch is fully latched.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the lower hinge strap bolt (1) retaining body side hinge to the endgate hinge.

Tighten the lower hinge strap bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Install the endgate harness.
7. Install the rear wiper motor.
8. Install the endgate license plate pocket.
9. Install the left lower endgate latch.
10. Install the left upper endgate latch.
11. Install the endgate window run channels.
12. Install the endgate window regulator.
13. Install the endgate window.
14. Install the endgate window reveal molding.
15. Install the endgate window outer sealing strip.
16. Install the rear wiper arm.
17. Install the endgate wedge assembly.
18. Install the inner panel reinforcement.
19. Install the endgate control module.
20. Install the endgate torque rod.
21. Carefully close the endgate, ensuring the latches are fully engaged.
22. Perform an endgate window learn cycle.
23. Open the endgate (drop mode). Secure with the prop rod.




24. Install the upper hinge strap screw (2) retaining the body side hinge to the endgate side hinge.

Tighten the upper hinge strap screw to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

25. Install the bolt (1) retaining the hinge assemblies to the endgate.

Tighten the hinge bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

26. Install the endgate support cable.




27. Install the endgate harness grommet (3) to the body.
28. Install the bolt (2) retaining the endgate harness to the body.

Tighten the endgate harness bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

29. Install the right rear tail lamp assembly.
30. Inspect and adjust the endgate alignment.
31. Inspect and adjust the endgate window.
32. Adjust the endgate wedges. Refer to Wedge Replacement - Endgate - Endgate Side.
