Service Information
This bulletin is being issued to revise the Secondary Air Injection Pipe Replacement Procedure - Manual procedure in the Engine Controls - 4.2L sub-section of the Service Manual.

Service Procedure
SECONDARY AIR INJECTION PIPE REPLACEMENT (2004-2005 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES)
Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Disconnect both the air inlet and air outlet pipe from the secondary air injection reaction (AIR) pump.
3. Remove the air inlet and air outlet pipe retaining clip from the fuel rail.
4. Lower the vehicle.
IMPORTANT:
It is not necessary to remove the throttle body to remove the intake manifold.
5. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
6. Remove the number 6 ignition coil. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement.
7. Disconnect the AIR hose from the air box.
8. Disconnect the AIR hose from the solenoid valve.
9. Remove the bolt and fir-tree fasteners securing the AIR pipe to the cylinder head.
10. Remove the AIR hose assembly by rotating over the top of the engine.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the AIR hose assembly by rotating over the top of the engine.
2. Add a drop of Compound, Adhesive/Sealant P/N 8-12345-382-0 to the bolt threads.
NOTE:
Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
3. Install the bolt and fir-tree fasteners securing the AIR pipe to the cylinder head. Tighten the bolt until fully seated.
4. Connect the AIR hose to the air box.
5. Connect the AIR hose to the solenoid valve.
6. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
7. Install the number 6 ignition coil. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement.
8. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
9. Connect the air inlet and air outlet pipe retaining clip to the fuel rail.
10. Connect both the air inlet and air outlet pipe to the AIR pump.
11. Lower the vehicle.
SECONDARY AIR INJECTION PIPE REPLACEMENT (2006 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES)
Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Disconnect both the air inlet and air outlet pipe from the secondary air injection reaction (AIR) pump.
3. Remove the air inlet and air outlet pipe retaining clip from the fuel rail.
4. Lower the vehicle.
IMPORTANT:
It is not necessary to remove the throttle body to remove the intake manifold.
5. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
6. Remove the number 6 ignition coil. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement.
7. Disconnect the AIR hose from the air box.
8. Disconnect the AIR hose from the solenoid valve.
9. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
10. Remove the bolt and fir-tree fasteners securing the AIR pipe to the cylinder head.
11. Remove the AIR hose assembly by rotating over the top of the engine.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the AIR hose assembly by rotating over the top of the engine.
2. Add a drop of Compound, Adhesive/Sealant P/N 8-12345-382-0 to the bolt threads.
NOTE:
Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
3. Install the bolt and fir-tree fasteners securing the AIR pipe to the cylinder head.
Tighten the bolt until fully seated.
4. Connect the AIR hose to the air box.
5. Connect the AIR hose to the solenoid valve.
6. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
7. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
8. Install the number 6 ignition coil. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement.
9. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
10. Connect the air inlet and air outlet pipe retaining clip to the fuel rail.
11. Connect both the air inlet and air outlet pipe to the AIR pump.
12. Lower the vehicle.
