Interior - Poor Carpet Fit at Console/Loose/Gaps

Front Floor Carpet Poor Fit, Loose Or Gaps Around Left Sill Plate Or Foot Rest And/Or Exposed Ground Bolt At Front Floor Console

Affected Vehicles:
2005-2008 Isuzu Ascender

Service Information

Condition:





Some customers may comment that the front floor carpet (1) is loose around the driver's side floor next to the sill plate or foot rest.

Possible Cause:

This condition may be caused by the lack of padding under the carpet at the left front foot rest.

Correction:

Install floor deadener. Do Not replace the carpet.

Service Procedure

Install floor deadener to the foam foot rest block using the steps below.

1. Position the left front seat assembly to the full rear position.

2. Remove the left front floor mat.

3. Remove the left front door sill plate. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement in the Service Manual.

4. Reposition the carpet up and away from the foot rest block.





5. Remove the foam foot rest block (1) from the vehicle.

6. Cut a piece of deadener to 11 cm (4-3/8 in) width by 26 cm (10-1/2 in) length.





7. Attach the deadener to the top of the foam foot rest block with hot glue

8. Install the foam block back into the vehicle.

9. Reposition the carpet back over the foot rest block.

IMPORTANT:
Make sure the carpet is tucked behind the sill plate.

10. Install the left front door sill plate. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement in the Service Manual.

11. Install the left front floor mat.

12. Return the seat assembly back to the original position.
