TSB SB05-05-S003

Throttle Tip-In Clunk Noise At Low Speeds

Affected Vehicles
2005 Isuzu Ascender with 5.3L Gasoline Engine (VIN M)

Service Information

Condition:

Some customers may comment on a clunk type noise on light throttle tip-in at low speeds. The clunk type noise may be evident but not as significant at higher speeds.

Important:
This bulletin is specific to the affected vehicle and condition described above. For other driveline concerns refer to IB05-05-S005.

Possible Cause:

Torque reversal in the driveline may cause this condition. Engineering made Calibration changes to increase air flow during deceleration to help keep a positive driveline torque.

Correction:

Reprogram the ECM using the appropriate Service Manual procedures.

Service Procedure

Reprogram the PCM with a new service calibration released with ITCS CD version 34 or newer.

Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in the Service Manual. As always, make sure your TECH 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
