Evaporator Tube Replacement
EVAPORATOR TUBE REPLACEMENTTOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the evaporator tube nut (4) from the TXV stud.
3. Remove the evaporator tube (2) from the TXV.
4. Remove the evaporator tube from the retaining clips (2) on cowl and fender.
5. Remove the nut (4) from the evaporator tube block fitting (2).
6. Remove the evaporator tube.
7. Remove the O-ring seal and discard.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the new O-ring seal.
2. Install the evaporator tube.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the nut (4) to the evaporator tube block fitting (2).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
4. Install the evaporator tube to the retaining clips (2) on cowl and fender.
5. Install the evaporator tube (2) to the TXV.
6. Install the evaporator tube nut (4) to the TXV stud.
7. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
8. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400.
