SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 8
DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel until the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
IMPORTANT: Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zones before disabling the SIR system.
2. Turn OFF the ignition.
3. Remove the key from the ignition.
4. Remove the trim panel.
5. Access the inflatable restraint I/P module inline connector C208 above the driver side kick panel. Refer to Harness Routing Views.
6. Remove the SIR fuse from the fuse block (1) located in the underhood fuse block.
IMPORTANT: With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
7. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (1) from the steering wheel module yellow 4-way connector (1) located left of the steering column (2) above the left hinge pillar trim panel.
8. Disconnect the steering wheel module yellow 4-way connector (1) located left of the steering column (2) above the left hinge pillar trim panel.
9. Remove the left door trim panel.
10. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (3) from the side impact sensor yellow 2-way connector (5) located near the middle of the door.
11. Disconnect the side impact sensor yellow 2-way connector (5) located near the middle of the door.
12. Remove the trim panel.
13. Remove the CPA from the seat belt pretensioner - left connector.
14. Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner - left connector from the vehicle harness connector.
15. Remove the garnish molding.
16. Disconnect the roof rail module connector (1) from the vehicle harness.
17. Remove the CPA from the I/P module yellow 4-way inline connector C208 (2) located above the driver side kick panel.
18. Disconnect the I/P module yellow 4-way inline connector C208 (2) located above the driver side kick panel.
19. Remove the right door trim panel.
20. Remove the CPA (3) from the side impact sensor yellow 2-way connector (5) located near the middle of the door.
21. Disconnect the side impact sensor yellow 2-way connector (5) located near the middle of the door.
22. Remove the trim panel.
23. Remove the CPA from the seat belt pretensioner - right connector.
24. Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner - right connector from the vehicle harness connector.
25. Remove the garnish molding.
26. Disconnect the roof rail module connector (1) from the vehicle harness.
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition.
2. Connect the steering wheel module yellow 4-way connector (1) located left of the steering column (2) above the left hinge pillar trim panel.
3. Install the CPA (1) to the steering wheel module yellow 4-way connector (1) located left of the steering column (2) above the left hinge pillar trim panel.
4. Connect the roof rail module connector (1) and install the garnish molding.
5. Connect the seat belt pretensioner - left and install the CPA.
6. Install the trim panel.
7. Connect the side impact sensor yellow 2-way connector (5) located near the middle of the door.
8. Install the CPA (3) to the side impact sensor yellow 2-way connector (5) located near the middle of the door.
9. Install the left door trim panel.
10. Connect the I/P module yellow 4-way inline connector C208 (2) located above the driver door kick panel.
11. Install the CPA to the I/P module yellow 4-way inline connector C208 (2) located above the driver side kick panel.
12. Connect the roof rail module connector (1) and install the garnish molding.
13. Connect the seat belt pretensioner-right and install the CPA.
14. Install the trim panel.
15. Connect the side impact sensor yellow 2-way connector (5) located near the middle of the door.
16. Install the CPA (3) to the side impact sensor yellow 2-way connector (5) located near the middle of the door.
17. Install the right door trim panel.
18. Install the SIR fuse to the fuse block (1) located in the underhood fuse block.
19. Staying well away from all air bags, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
1. The AIR BAG indicator will flash 7 times.
2. The AIR BAG indicator will then turn OFF.
20. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle, if the AIR BAG indicator does not operate as described.
