Revised Ignition Switch Replacement (Service Manual Revision)

Service Information
This bulletin is being issued to revise the Ignition Switch Replacement procedure in the Steering Wheel and Column sub-section of the Service Manual.

Service Procedure
IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT
Notice:
Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
Removal Procedure
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in the Service Manual.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable in the Service Manual.
3. Remove the lower steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement.
4. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
5. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the run position prior to removal of the ignition switch or damage to the components can occur.
6. Remove the two ignition switch screws.
7. Remove the ignition switch.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the ignition switch and tighten the two ignition switch screws.
Torque
0.74 N.m (7 lb in)
2. Connect the ignition switch electrical connector.
3. Install the lower steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement.
4. Re-connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable in the Service Manual.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in the Service Manual.
6. Reprogram the theft deterrent system. Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components.
