Heater Pipe Replacement - Inlet

J38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (Static Fill) Draining and Filling Cooling System (Vac N Fill).
2. Using the J38185, reposition the heater hose outlet clamp from the heater pipe inlet.
3. Remove the heater hose outlet from the heater pipe inlet.
4. Remove the exhaust heat shield.




5. Remove the heater inlet pipe bolt.
6. Remove the heater inlet pipe.

Installation Procedure




1. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent to the heater outlet hose fitting threads.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the heater outlet hose fitting.

Tighten the heater outlet hose fitting to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

3. Install the heater hose outlet to the heater pipe inlet.
4. Using the J38185, reposition the heater hose outlet clamp to the heater pipe inlet.
5. Install the exhaust heat shield.
6. Fill the engine cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (Static Fill) Draining and Filling Cooling System (Vac N Fill).
