DTC P20AC Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Pump Temperature Sensor Circuit

Description
The DEF supply pump temperature sensor is located in the DEF supply pump and it measures the internal temperature of the DEF supply pump. The temperature sensor signal is sent to the DEF control module by a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal and shared with the pump motor circuit. If the DEF control module fails to receive the pump temperature signal, this DTC will set. If the DEF control module detects an abnormal pump temperature signal, this DTC will also set.

Condition for Running the DTC
- The battery voltage is between 10 to 16 volts.
- The ignition switch is ON.

Condition for Setting the DTC

Communication Error
- The DEF control module detects that the DEF supply pump temperature signal is not being received.

Signal Error
- The DEF control module receives an abnormal DEF supply pump temperature signal for 4 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
- The DEF control module requests the ECM to illuminate the MIL. Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Action Taken When the DTC Sets - Type A. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Type Definitions
- The DEF control module and the ECM apply defaulted warning actions and fail-safe controls. Default Action and Fail-Safe List
- The DEF control module and the ECM apply defaulted warning actions. Default Action and Fail-Safe List

Conditions for Clearing the DTC
- Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Conditions for Clearing the DTC - Type A or Type B. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Type Definitions

Diagnostic Aids
- If an intermittent condition is suspected, Intermittent Conditions
