Upper




Removal
1. Raise vehicle and remove wheel.
2. Remove upper brake caliper bolt and slide hose retaining clip back approximately 1/4 to 1/2 in.
3. Remove lower shock absorber bolt and push shock absorber upward.
4. Raise lower control arm until level and place support under outer end of control arm.

5. Loosen upper ball joint castle nut until top of nut is flush with top of ball joint. Using Tool J-26407-1, disconnect upper ball joint from the steering knuckle, Fig. 10.
6. Remove two bolts connecting upper ball joint to control arm.
7. Remove upper ball joint.


Installation
1. Install upper ball joint in control arm so the cut-off portion is facing outward.
2. Install two bolts connecting upper ball joint to control arm. Torque nuts to 29 ft. lbs.
3. Attach upper ball joint to steering knuckle and torque castle nut to 40 ft. lbs.
4. Install lower shock absorber bolt. Torque to 29 ft. lbs.
5. Slide hose retaining clip in place and install the upper brake caliper bolt. Torque bolt to 36 ft. lbs.
6. Install wheel and torque nuts to 50 ft. lbs.
