EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation

The vacuum switching valve is mounted on the left side of the engine compartment and is electrically activated by the EGR controller. When specific conditions are met, the EGR controller sends an electrical ``On'' signal to the vacuum switching valve, opening a port on the valve and directing vacuum from the vacuum pump to the EGR valve diaphragm.
