Oxygen Sensor: Description and Operation

This is a closed end zirconia sensor mounted in the exhaust manifold. Its operation is controlled by oxygen content in the exhaust gas stream. As oxygen content rises (lean mixture) the voltage generated by the sensor falls and as oxygen content falls (rich mixture) voltage rises.
