Disassembly

Fig. 1 DCH-340 Carburetor exploded view.:





1. Disconnect accelerator pump lever, Fig. 1, then rubber hose from slow actuator.
2. Remove throttle return spring, then flatten harness clips under choke housing and at diaphragm chamber cover and remove lead wire.
3. Disconnect automatic choke wiring connector, then remove wire from retaining clips (if used).
4. Remove fuel inlet fitting and strainer. Use caution not to distort strainer.
5. Disconnect choke connecting rod from counter lever.
6. Disconnect choke vacuum hose, then remove choke chamber-to-float chamber attaching screws and remove choke chamber from float chamber.
7. Remove diaphragm assembly link-to-secondary throttle lever circlip and disconnect link, then remove diaphragm assembly attaching bolts and the diaphragm.
8. Remove throttle chamber-to-float chamber attaching screws, then the throttle chamber.
9. Remove accelerator pump diaphragm assembly, then the float needle valve assembly.
10. Remove main actuator-to-float chamber attaching screws, then the actuator, gasket and float. Use caution not to lose float collar.

11. Remove diaphragm assembly cover attaching screws, then separate diaphragm cover, spring and diaphragm. Use caution not to lose ball and spring, Fig. 2.
12. Remove jets from upper part of float chamber.
13. Remove accelerator pump discharge set screw, then the weight, check ball and spring (if equipped).
14. Remove main jet plugs, then the primary and secondary main jets.
15. Remove primary slow air bleed from choke chamber. The primary throttle valve, secondary throttle valve and choke valve are sealed at the factory to prevent air leaks. Do not remove these parts.
