Idle Mixture Adjustment
1. Apply parking brake and block drive wheels, then place transmission in Neutral.
2. Remove concealment plug from carburetor if so equipped. (See CONCEALMENT PLUG REMOVAL).
3. Start engine and allow to reach normal operating temperature, then connect suitable tachometer.
4. Turn off A/C, if equipped, then ensure choke is fully opened.
5. Disconnect and plug canister purge line, distributor vacuum line and EGR vacuum line.
6. Close idle compensator vacuum line by bending rubber hose.
7. Connect suitable dwell meter between duty monitor and ground, then turn idle mixture adjusting screw in all the way and back out 1 1/2 turns.
8. Adjust throttle adjusting screw to 750 RPM for manual transaxle and 1,000 RPM for automatic transaxle.
9. Adjust setting of idle mixture screw to obtain an average dwell meter reading of 36°.
10. Reset throttle adjusting screw to 850 RPM for manual transaxle and 980 RPM for automatic transaxle.
