Throttle Position Switch (TPS)
Fig. 19 Connecting Ohmmeter to Throttle Position Sensor (TPS):
1. Check to see that TPS bracket attaching bolt is secured tightly.
2. Ensure that there is no play in the TPS arm and primary throttle valve arm.
3. Connect a suitable ohmmeter to the green and black wires of the TPS,Fig. 19
4. Open throttle lever approximately one-third of the way, then gradually close lever. Check for continuity when primary throttle valve reaches 18 degrees from horizontal plane (0.005 inch throttle plate clearance) on automatic transmission models or 16 degrees from horizontal plane (0.004 inch throttle plate clearance) on manual transmission models. Adjust TPS by loosening the set screws if not within specifications.
