Fig. 14a Timing Belt Tensioner:
1. Disconnect battery negative terminal.
2. Drain coolant.
3. Remove timing belt cover, Fig. 14.
4. Loosen timing belt tensioner set-bolt slightly.
5. Insert a hex wrench into the proper hole on the pulley and rotate the pulley clockwise to release tension on the timing belt, Fig. 14a.
6. Remove the timing belt.
NOTE: Do not bend or twist the timing belt. Do not get any oils or coolant on the timing belt. Do not pry the belt with any tools during removal or assembly. Any of these occurances will damage the belt and it will need to be replaced.

7. Remove the water pump as shown, Fig. 14b.
8. Reverse the procedure to install taking care to properly set the tension on the timing belt. After belt installation is complete, rotate the engine by hand two turns and check the long side for 33-42 pounds (17-20 kg).
9. If not within specifications, adjust the tensioner pulley and check again.
